Woburn Athletics

2020 New England USSSA Hall of Fame Team of Distinction

The Woburn A’s were the dominant USSSA Team for a ten year Period during the 1980’s and 1990’s. Playing in both the “B” and “C” divisions, they were recognized for their fielding as well as timely hitting.

They were the Massachusetts State class “C” Champions in both 1992 and1993. The 1993 season was spectacular as the A’s won 14 of 20 tournaments they played in while having an overall record of 93 victories and 16 losses. The high point of that 1993 season was winning the Class “C” Eastern Regional Championship in Syracuse, New York.

The Woburn A’s were a traveling team as they played all over New England and travelled to events in Florence, South Carolina and Petersburg, Virginia.

They won the Burlington, Vermont tournaments three years in a row.

Led by Bill Tassinari and Bruce Taylor, their teams were composed of Greater Boston players. The Woburn A’s were recognized for their athletic abilities, their play on the field, but also for their love of USSSA Softball
