Steve Deschene

Male Player - Presented by Bill McCluskey

Steve Deschene began his USSSA career in 1980. Whether Steve was playing for Thermco, City Sports, VEM, Sports Center, Cassidy & Lee, Grafton Merchants or Millbury Old Time Inn, he is always eager to be on the field. The fact that he has participated in over 500 combined league and tournament games for 6 consecutive years reflects his desire to be on the field.

His passion for the game is abundantly clear as he states:

“The most exciting event for me happens every time I step onto the field. I still get just as big a thrill today, as I did 23 years ago. I look forward to every game, whether it be a league game or a tournament. Not only because I love to play the game but because I get to see the people I enjoy being with. Softball has, and will continue to be, one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”

Steve goes on to say “Softball is a tremendous sport. It allows millions of people the ability to extend their High School and College careers in sports, no matter what level you are on. It is also a major social tool for people to be able to get out and meet other people that they might not meet if it wasn’t for softball. The USSSA organization has been a great organization to be associated with. A lot of really nice people and a well run company.”

With a career average batting average of .700-750 and over 1000 career homeruns, his love for the game shines through. Below is a list of some of Steve’s accomplishments to date:

19 MVP awards, league and tournament combined.

1 All State Tournament MVP
8 All Tournament Team selections

2 All Tournament Team MVP selections and

1 All World Team selection

11 Men's State Championship tournaments. 1 Championship

16 Men's Northeast Divisional tournaments. 3 Championships

28 Men's NIT tournaments. 6 Championships

In Steve’s own words, “My greatest thrill in the USSSA program would definitely have to be winning the 1996 “B” World Tournament in Arizona. This is an achievement that all softball players at every level dream of winning.”
