Raven’s most exciting time in USSSA came in her first year playing slow pitch. Her team had made it to the Worlds. That brought her back to her time in college. The pure fact that you play all summer to work out the pieces of your game to be a better athlete and teammate to then go and put it all out there against new competition. She feels USSSA gave her a new lease on life after college.

Raven feels that slow pitch is a remarkable sport because as you get older and possibly lose a step, or not be as strong as you were a few years ago, you can still compete. As long as you know the game of softball, you will do well.

Raven had great sportsmanship and she also educated people on her team and across the field on the game of softball. She feels that these have been her most successful contributions to the USSSA Program.

“What makes me happy to see is that so many people are involved in the betterment and the continuing success of women’s softball. In my years I’ve seen it ebb and flow, but something always evolves to make it better and stronger than it was. It’s so nice to see more and more teams coming out every year.”
