Nancy Bilodeau

Female Player - Presented by Sue Katchpole

Nancy graduated from Ithica College, NY in 1975. She played shortstop throughout her college career and was one of few left-handed shortstops in the game.

In the summers of 1975 thru 1980, Nancy played primarily for the Brow Oil team in the Braintree league. She also played for Chatels; Andrew’s Paint; Bob’s; Barons and Longbranch in the Brockton league. Nancy was paving the way for many young players eager to participate in women’s softball.

Nancy started playing tournament softball in 1980 and transitioned from shortstop to 1st base. Although she had no prior experience playing 1st, her natural abilities allowed her to develop into one of the most accomplished 1st basemen in New England.

Local tournaments extended from Brockton to Fall River, Melrose, Peabody, Webster, Bellingham, and Manchester, NH. Nancy played in many other major tournaments:
1980 Tiverton, RI Tournament MVP

1981Hutchinson, KS
1982 Virginia Beach, FL
1983 Satellite Beach, FL
1983 Northeastern Class “B” World All Tournament Team

1985 Quincy, MA 1st Place-Patty Molloy

1986 Quincy, MA 1st Place-Patty Molloy

In 1983, New England hosted its first Women's Class "B" World Tournament held in Peabody, MA. The field was comprised of 88 teams and was directed by John Hart. One of Nancy's biggest accomplishments was being named to the All Tournament Team. She was selected as the Outstanding Defensive Player of the tournament, receiving the Golden Glove Award. Her timely hitting and key defensive play led Barons to a 6th place finish eliminating teams that traveled from as far away as Ohio.

Nancy has always had an influential and overwhelming impact in Women's softball amongst players we all know and respect. Her love and passion of the game remains within all that know of her accomplishments.
