Although many teams and players came up to him after their game commenting on his umpiring skills and telling him they would like to see him more often doing their games, the games that stood out were the Special Olympics ones. John lists his most exciting time as when he umpired for the first time at the Special Olympics in Holyoke. To see the joy and pride in those kids and the laughter and tears of sportsmanship was truly heartwarming to him.

“I have enjoyed all of my travels as an umpire and have made many friends with both players and among my fellow umpires. I have gotten to work with many good umpires in my tenure who have since been inducted into the Hall of Fame. This is indeed a great honor for me to even be considered and I’m very proud to be a USSSA umpire.”
