Jeffery Silveira

Male Player - Presented by Bill McCluskey

Baseball was always Jeff’s first passion. After playing four years of college baseball, as a pitcher with many NCAA Tournament Titles and after playing two years of semi-professional baseball, his dream came to an abrupt end, due to injury.

In 1986, having the desire to continue to play, he started playing softball for a very prominent team in Massachusetts called Beloli’s. From 1986-1992 Beloli’s was the Mecca of softball in Massachusetts. Jeff earned numerous MVP’s and All Tournament Team Awards while playing with Beloli’s. During this time he also played for Club 110, considered to be the best co-ed softball team ever assembled in Massachusetts. Club 110 had an unprecedented 8 USSSA New England Championships in a row, while bestowing upon Jeff 8 All Tournament Team Awards and 6 MVP Awards.

In 1992, Jeff founded a team called Magic, with players from his own town, Taunton Massachusetts. They became a formidable foe for many USSSA teams, especially Thermco, over the next four years, where they won the States and NIT’s. It was here where Jeff developed quite a competitive bond with Bill McCluskey of Thermco.

In 1996, the two worlds collided and Jeff joined Bill McCluskey on Thermco. After many years of practice and hard work, Jeff became a leader and a winner and established himself as one of the premiere leadoff hitters in the game. Many of his peers were quoted as saying “he was the one you wanted at the plate when you needed that clutch hit”.

Over the next 8 years with Thermco, the team would win many State, Divisional, and NIT Tournaments with the help of both Jeff’s bat and glove. Jeff would achieve numerous MVP’s and All Tournament Team Awards, but the culmination of all these accolades was finally achieved when Thermco won the 1996 USSSA B World Championship in Tucson, Arizona. Every player dreams of winning the worlds, but to actually achieve it is “awesome”.
Throughout his career Jeff continued to play USSSA softball in many different leagues (Taunton, Raynham and Bridgewater, MA), where he achieved many league batting titles, MVP’s and Championships. He was the ultimate team player with outstanding skills both in the field and at the plate. His ability to be so incredibly consistent with the bat made him one of the best hitters in the game. He carried a career batting average of over .750 and a fiery competitiveness that put attitude in his game.

In order to achieve all these goals, a player must have skill, some luck and an in-credible sponsor. Without the friendship and gratitude of the Bill McCluskey’s and the Andy Beloli’s in the game, you would not know who Jeff Silveira is today.
