2011 New England USSSA Hall of Fame Team of Distinction 

Fran Pierce start playing softball in the early 60’s, he enjoyed the game and would travel around to see other teams and players. Soon, Fran started to sponsor tournaments.

In the mid 70’s The Pierce Construction Softball team, sponsored by Fran, entered the Windsor Locks tournament at the encouragement of one of the team’s players. They ended up beating the favored team and won the tournament. That was the start of The Pierce Construction Softball team legacy.

As the team continued on, better players wanted to play for Pierce. In the mid 80’s the team would always find themselves in a position to win whatever tournament they were in.

The team began to win State and Regional tournaments and would go on to Nation-al tournaments in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Iowa, South Carolina and the “PIF” in Canada. 

After many years of playing in other sanctions, Pierce Construction eventually settled into playing only USSSA. 

In 1991, Pierce Construction would have a storybook kind of season. They fin-ished with a tournament record of 120-18 and a league record of 29-5. They won an amazing 14 tournaments in a row. The team had won the CT/MA B State Championship in Agawam, MA, the B New England’s at Fort Devens, MA, and the Northeast Regional in West Windsor, NJ. 
 
They went on to the B World Series held in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The com-petition was comprised of the top 16 teams from 7 regions around the country. These teams represented the best teams of more than 100,000 teams nationwide. Pierce Construction qualified by winning the Northeast Regional which was held on Labor Day Weekend in West Windsor, NJ. 

They won the B World Series with a record of 5-0. They also finished the season ranked #1 in the Nation in the Men’s Class B Division.
Tonight we have gathered here the players from the 1991 USSSA Men’s “B” World Tournament Championship Team! Together they are here to unite for a 20th reunion & celebrate their amazing accomplishment!
