Gregory’s greatest softball thrill came when he was playing for City Sport-ing Goods in the 1993 Northeast Regionals held in Princeton, NJ. His team went into the tournament as the #1 rated C team in the country and lost the first game of the weekend. They came back to win 5 games on Sunday for the privilege of making it to Monday. On Monday, in extreme heat, they played and won 7 games in a row to become the first team ever to lose their first game and go on to win the Northeast Regionals…..a true team effort.

Along with great thrills come amusing times. Gregory’s most amusing time was one year in the finals of the Grafton Fall League. On the verge of being mercied, with the “extra” guys on the other team already buying beer for the “victors” we managed to completely turn the tables and mercy them, leaving them out on the field.

Gregory has loved the game of softball for 25 years. When he first started playing, he played only 25 games per year. Missing one was like having a tooth pulled. Through the game of softball and his association with USSSA, it has afforded him with the opportunity to make life-long bonds. “Players, coaches, sponsors, umpires, directors, you name it. I have come across some of the finest people the game has to offer.
