Edwin Pooler

Special - Presented by Don Pelletier

Ed Pooler played softball for 25 years, it was his passion. He started the Wiscasset Men’s Fall league and the Wiscasset Co-Ed league in 1995, both are still active USSSA leagues.

Ed joined the USSSA as an umpire in 1997. He became the Maine State Umpire-In-Chief in 1999.

Ed was the tournament director for the USSSA Class “D” Maine State tourney from 1999-2001.

Ed participated in several tournaments throughout New England over the years. He attended the 2000 Flag City Shoot Out in Georgia, the Northeast Law Enforcement tournament and New Hampshire State tournaments, to name a few.

In 2001 Ed was voted the Northeast Umpire of the Year for the 2000 season. He also started the Maine State USSSA website.
Ed took over the Maine State Area Directorship in 2002.

The Maine USSSA organization and its participants will surely miss his dedication to the program and the sport of softball.
