Debra Taddey

Female Player - Presented by Joe Rossi

Deb has been playing USSSA Softball for 16 years. She has played in leagues in Chicopee, Agawam, Springfield, Palmer and Holyoke. In addition to leagues, she played in Mixed Tournaments with teams such as Shields Tool & Machine, Royal Café, Rookies, and Last Call.

Deb states that USSSA provides a great way for individuals to continue to play competitively, even after high school and college. She feels it is a great organization that creates unity among those still competitive in nature. Communities have various social groups, and USSSA is Deb’s social group.

Deb has played in approximately 52 mixed tournaments, of which she was the lead-ing female hitter for her team in 29 of those tournaments. She has played in the Mixed C or D World Tournament 8 times, with 1 runner-up finish, a 5th place finish and a total of 4 top 20 finishes. Over the course of 9 years, her team has been ranked number 1 in the northeast 5 times (2003-2006, 2009). She has played in approximately 27 mixed leagues (15 championships) and approximately 21 women's leagues (10 championships).

Deb’s greatest thrill came during the 2005 Mixed World Tournament. Her team was playing in an elimination game, down by a run in the top of the seventh with 1 out and 2 on base. She was at bat, with an offensive ejection in the spot following her, she knew if she hit into an out, the season was over. Deb hit a triple to the right field corner, scoring 2 to give them a 9-8 lead. They held on to win the game. Coming up with a clutch hit in that situation was her greatest personal thrill.

“I have enjoyed all of my league and tournament experiences in USSSA. I really enjoy traveling to tournaments out of the area, competing against different teams, especially in the world tournaments: The world tournament is always the highlight of the year and is truly a great experience.” - Deb
